What sets Gulf Coast Reef and Aquaculture apart from everyone else?

This can be an expensive hobby! Gulf Coast Reef and Aquaculture is a company that formed as a result of three hobbyists (Mark Wilson, James Davis, and Michael Hensley) who sought to provide a means for reef aquarium enthusiasts to purchase cultured and sustainably collected livestock at the very best prices possible. This is an important goal for us since most people in this hobby, if given a choice, say they would buy a cultured fish or coral over a wild caught animal even if they had to pay a little more. At Gulf Coast Reef and Aquaculture we feel that if we can provide the reef keeping community with the best quality cultured specimens that actually cost LESS than wild collected specimens the consumer can get the best of both worlds. We strive to keep reef keeping sustainable AND affordable!

Do you offer wild collected specimens?

Although our main focus is on cultured species, we do occasionally sell wild collected animals that have been sustainably collected (net caught/hand collected) without the use of chemicals or destructive harvesting practices. This not only helps to assure that reefs and reef communities stay intact but also provides you, the customer, with the highest quality, healthiest animals possible!

Does Gulf Coast Reef and Aquaculture raise their own corals and fish?

YES! Unlike many other retailers, we at Gulf Coast Reef and Aquaculture also breed and raise our own corals and fish, in addition to providing cultured animals from other distributors. By doing this, we can offer you the best prices on quality cultured marine life! Some species that will be offered in the near future from us are: Bangaii cardinal fish, piccasso clown fish, ultra colored Brazilian seahorses, onyx clown fish, orchid dottybacks, skunk cleaner shrimp, fire shrimp, as well as variety of SPS, LPS and soft corals.

Quality of marine life:

To ensure the quality and long-term health, ALL in-coming livestock is treated to remove unwanted parasites and hitchhikers before being placed in our systems. These strict acclimation procedures are followed at all times to ensure you get animals in the best condition possible.
